SmartViews to Suit Your Shop Floor

With the release of SmartViews in August 2024, many users have leveraged the dashboard’s flexibility to provide custom visuals not typically found in MERLIN or any monitoring system.

The Multi-State Change View was requested by a customer who was experiencing a challenge in ensuring that machines were placed into the correct operational state when they changed personnel on the shop floor. With the shortage of operators, they were forced to move essential operators between various machining centers throughout the day, which introduced a situation where a machine was left in IDLE, collecting downtime, when, in fact, it was no longer in production. When left in this state, it negatively skewed the utilization for the machine, the job, and the shift, and negatively impacted the cell or department. The “Multi-State Change” View allows supervisors or Team Leads to quickly change a misreporting machine to a correct state for accurate KPIs and classification for root cause analysis if needed.

In this example, twenty-four assets are simultaneously monitored for state and duration. A supervisor or team lead can apply a new state from four selections that they chose to override the current state with a more accurate or correct operation. This essential view eliminated modifying operational history and produced accurate KPIs.
