Our newest SmartView release is sparking an explosion of creativity across the MERLIN community—and one customer just raised the bar again. Faced with operators who occasionally logged off for the day while their machines lingered in an IDLE or other down condition, the team lead was losing precious utilization points and spending valuable minutes trekking to each MERLIN Operator Portal to “clean up” the data.

So they built a State‑Changer SmartView (see screenshot) that turns every machine tile into a live command console. From his desk—or his phone—the supervisor can now flip any asset to one of six curated states (In‑Cycle, Idle, No Material, Setup, Breakdown, or Return Machine Control) with a single tap. Phantom downtime is wiped out, shift reports stay honest, and the team lead wins back floor time for value‑added work instead of administrative walk‑arounds.
